May 4, 2016

Marilyn Monroe is one of the ultimate beauty icons of all time. She was naturally pretty, but...there were plenty makeup secrets that her makeup artist Allan “Whitey” Snyder used which made her look absolutely fabulous. Let me share with you some of Marilyn Monroe’s beauty secrets.

GLOWING SKIN

Marilyn Monroe always applied Vaseline before applying her foundation. She loved it as it was the ultimate moisturizer for her skin. It also gave her a soft focus glow under studio lights. According to Marie Claire magazine – Snyder would also use the jelly (Vaseline) as a highlighter, applying it to the cheekbones and brow bones for sheen.

OIL FOR GLISTENING LIDS

According to Marie Claire magazine - Marilyn Monroe was a firm believer that shiny lids were sexy. Snyder would dab some onto her lids for a subtle, wet-look finish.

GRETA GARBO’S EYESHADOW TRICK

According to Marie Claire magazine - Monroe literally called it the "Greta Garbo eye," as the silent screen star was the one who originally blended white eye shadow on the lids all the way up to the brow bone and into the inner corners to add more depth.

FAKE EYELASHES

Marilyn Monroe used to wear half a set of eyelashes on the outer corners of her eyes to extend the shape of her eyes. She would also apply a couple of coats of mascara so her lashes would look perfect!

NOSE SHAPE

Whitey (makeup artist of Marilyn Monroe) used blush to shorten and shape Marilyn’s nose, as well as enhancing her cheekbones. Whitey would dab a little bit of blush on the tip of her nose and then go on top of it with Vaseline and powder to achieve the perfect soft focus texture.
