April 30, 2016

I am sure everyone loves a cold glass of lemonade in the summer, but your skin and hair will appreciate these beauty uses of lemons that I am about to share with you even more! It might surprise you but you can use lemons for your everyday beauty routine. I have found and researched 5 everyday beauty uses that I am sure we would all find useful. So here it goes…

Hair Lightener

If you are looking to lighten your hair in a more natural way then lemon juice is the answer. Rather then spending a fortune at the salon lightening your hair for summer you can do all of this in your home. Lemon juice is a great beauty budget to use on your hair. Lemon Juice will lighten your hair naturally and will add depth to your new colour. I find natural ingredients far more effective and surprisingly these products are probably in your kitchen - no need to put chemicals in your hair!

Methods/recipe source (wikiHow)

For Normal Hair

1 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed (about 4 lemons)

1/4 cup warm water

For Dry Hair

1 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed (about 4 lemons)

1/4 cup conditioner

Method 1: To Lighten Normal Hair

Mix the lemon juice and the warm water together in a measuring cup. Our the mixture into a spray bottle.

Spray the mixture onto your hair until your hair is damp. You’ll get the best results if you spray the lemon juice on unwashed hair.

Sit our in the sun for 1 to 2 hours. Make sure that you wear sunscreen on your skin to protect yourself from getting sunburn.

Take a shower and apply a deep conditioner to your hair. The citric acid in lemons is very drying, so you’ll need to rejuvenate your hair after lightening it with lemon juice.

Repeat the process weekly until your hair turns the colour that you want. You may have to spray the lemon juice on your hair up to 4 times before you notice a difference.

Method 2: To Lighten Dry Hair

Combine the lemon juice and the conditioner in a small bowl. You may want to use a whisk to mix the ingredients together.

Place a towel around your shoulders. Scoop the mixture out with your hand and rub it over your hair. Then, use a wide-tooth comb to comb the lemon juice and conditioner through your hair.

Sit in the sun for 1 to 2 hours. Slather on some sunscreen to keep yourself from getting a sunburn.

Rinse the lemon juice and conditioner off the shower. Shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would.

Repeat the regimen once per week until you notice a difference. Then, keep repeating the lightening process until you get the colour that you want.

All finished.

Lip Exfoliator

If your lips are still dry from the cold winter we had and you can’t find a lip balm that will work, then you can try and put some lemon juice on your lips before bedtime. The next morning wash your lips that way the dead skin cells will scale off and they should feel nice and soft! If you don’t like the sound of that idea then you can always buy a lip scrub there are plenty out there at the moment!

Nail Strengthener

Too many gel manicures? Accordingly to the woman’s health magazine - Make a mixture of your favourite cooking oil (try olive oil) with lemon juice, soak your nails. This is good practice if your nails are dry and brittle, but it’s also a great way to help fix nails that have yellowed.

Shine Brightener

Lemons are rich in vitamin C and citric acid. Lemon juice doesn’t just get rid of shine off your face it can also brighten your skin over time that’s only if it’s used over time. If you are using this technique and you are going out in the sun it is important to use and wear SPF suncream, as you don’t want to damage the skin.

Soften Elbows and Knees

For this take some lemon juice - According to all women’s talk it is recommended to use a full lemon for this, a few teaspoons of salt, and some olive oil. Mix all the ingredients together and you have created a body exfoliator. I have heard that this works like magic! This mixture can help get rid of dry skin, dark pigmentation areas and orange strikes caused by spray tanning.
