The Best Contouring Kits for Newbies & Pros

November 4, 2015

Contouring has taken over the make-up world and is the all new make-up must have. When it comes to contouring it’s important to use and apply correctly whether it’s enhancing your cheekbones or mapping out your face. If you want to achieve a red carpet look then contouring really comes down to using only the best products. The good thing about contouring is that you can either use a creamy texture or a powder texture which ever your skin prefers as long as you blend well.

I have listed the best kits below which I think work like magic.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit (Fair), £39

This is brilliant for anyone who prefers a creamy texture; I use this as my every day contour look. The shade I’ve gone for is ‘fair’ which works well for my skin tone. The good thing about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit is that it comes in 6 different highlighting and sculpting shades. I would highly recommend as this kit really enhances your features and creates that 3D effect. You can buy directly online at Anastasia Beverly Hills, Cult Beauty, Beauty Bay and Sephora.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette, £8

This is fabulous for anyone who prefers a powder texture when contouring. I also tend to use this kit if I want to blend in my cheekbones more lightly. This kit includes 8 shades for the perfect sculpting and contouring look. Makeup Revolution has also included 2 of their favourite baked highlighters, along with a mirror. I would definitely recommend this kit as it works so well when it comes to blending and for £8 you can’t really go wrong! Makeup Revolution products can be purchased at Superdrug online or in store.

Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit, £35

This contour kit is great for a newbie as it comes with a step-by-step guide for all face shapes and a handy brush too. I sometimes find if you’re new to contouring and you’re not really sure where to start when it comes to mapping out your face then Smashbox have made it much easier by including a step-by-step instruction guide. The good thing about this kit is it also comes in a deeper shade. I would definitely recommend for beginners, Smashbox products can be purchased directly on their website or in a beauty store.

Laura Mercier Flawless Contour Palette, £35

Laura has chosen these neutral shades in a darker range that help sculpt the face and is perfect to use on photo shoots or even an everyday look. It comes with 3 brown neutral creams and 2 highlighters; if you want to go for a natural, flawless application then I would definitely recommend this palette. Laura Mercier products can be purchased directly on their website or John Lewis, Space NK and Sephora.
